Worlds 2008 is knocking at the door and the team at footbag.cz brings you an actual interview with the reigning footbag king and six time world champion, Vasek Klouda. And what else should we talk about than his feelings and preparation for the upcoming face-off of the nations in Prague?
Hi bro, there are only 20 days left for Worlds to start, what is your
present condition?
I was training all year long, so you can say that I'm in high
performance condition.
Are you glad that Worlds 2008 will take place in Prague, your hometown?
Yeah, I am very glad. I remember Worlds 2003 in Prague and we had a
super-duper atmosphere there and I believe that this year it will be
even better. Prague has super shredding spots, where, let's say, I
grew up. On top of that, it is the center of Europe, so there will be
lots of players and finally, it will be a hard-core event.
What are your main objectives for this Worlds?
For me, the 2 minute routine is the most important of all. There I
want to place first, that's clear as water. After that, I hope that I
win Doubles freestyle with Honza (Weber), because we have been
practicing a lot. By the way, we already had success in Doubles at
Euros in Montpellier. Other disciplines I leave for later thoughts.
How were you getting ready this year and how do you practice now?
I was preparing myself very carefully. I focused on brushing up my
style, physical preparation in the gym, and building up my endurance
by running. During my style preparation I focused mostly on trick
links. For my Worlds preparation I came here (Barcelona) and I
practiced here every day on Las Ramblas street, where I also tested
the reaction of the crowd. I practice several hours a day.
Do you already have your routines ready?
I am ready for the final routine's start and various combo/strings. I
am happy with the choice of my final routine music, it will be a great
time! I am still contemplating the music and routines for the other
rounds.
What message would you like to send to the other players, who are
coming to Worlds 2008 in Prague?
Our goal is to deliver an unforgettable environment for everyone who
comes to Worlds 2008 in Prague. It will be a week full of never ending
shred, an amazing atmosphere, and programs from dawn to dusk (and
after dusk also ), So I recommend everyone get good rest before their
departure to Prague. And above all, at least three days rest from
playing footbag. I'll finish up by saying an original motto: "It is
not important to win but to have a good shred".
